Why Does My Paycheck Disappear?

Almost never one big thing. It's a dozen small ones — subscriptions you forgot, convenience spending, the stuff that's easier to buy than to plan for. Each one is too small to argue with, which is exactly why together they take the whole paycheck.

Small and Repeating Beats Big and Rare

People brace for the big expenses and get taken apart by the small ones. A large purchase you think about for a week does less damage than something modest that leaves every month without being noticed.

A leaky stock tank doesn't lose much in an hour. Leave it all summer and you've lost more water than you'd believe.

How to Actually Find It

Go through the last three months of statements line by line and mark anything that repeats. Don't judge it yet, just mark it. Then add up what repeats and ask which of those you'd sign up for again today.

The ones you wouldn't are your answer.

Then Decide on Purpose

The point isn't to cut everything. It's to spend on what you'd choose and stop paying for what you've just drifted into.

If it still doesn't add up after that, the problem may be structural rather than behavioral — worth looking at with someone.
